What Participants Have Said

NR
Noraini Rosli
F&B Business Owner, Petaling Jaya

"I attended the Starter Session on a recommendation from a friend who runs a small trading company. I had always relied entirely on my accountant to tell me what the numbers meant. After the three-hour session I could at least follow along when he walked me through the income statement. The glossary is genuinely useful — I still keep it next to my desk."

"The four-week course was more work than I expected — the worksheets take real effort. But that is probably the point. I came in not really knowing the difference between a liability and an expense. By week three I was reading through my own business statements with a reasonable level of understanding. I would have appreciated slightly more time on the cash flow statement, but overall it was solid."

Operations Manager, Kuala Lumpur

"My director started expecting me to review monthly management accounts and I had no idea where to start. The Complete Programme gave me a framework for reading the documents that actually makes sense. The margin-note annotation on the sample statements is a clever teaching tool — it saves you from flipping between a glossary and the example constantly."

Retail Business Owner, Cheras

"I was a little anxious before the Starter Session because I thought I would be lost in accounting language. That was not the experience at all. The facilitator was patient and the session never felt rushed. I left with a much clearer picture of what the three statements are for and what each section actually shows."

"I joined the four-week course after setting up a small consultancy. The part I found most helpful was understanding how the income statement and balance sheet relate to each other — that connection was never obvious to me before. Group sessions were productive and questions from other participants often covered things I had not thought to ask."

HR Manager, Cyberjaya

"I enrolled in the Complete Programme primarily because I wanted to understand my company's annual reports before our management review meetings. The printed workbook is something I return to regularly. The Q&A access after the course ended was useful — I had questions come up in context that I would not have thought to ask during the sessions."

How Participants Applied What They Learned

A Sole Trader Preparing for a Bank Conversation

Starter Session — Retail, Kuala Lumpur

The Situation

A sole trader who had run a small clothing business for six years was meeting her bank to discuss a facilities review. She had always left financial discussions entirely to her accountant and felt uncertain about what questions the bank might ask.

What She Did

She attended the Starter Session two weeks before the bank meeting. She used the worked examples to understand the structure of her own profit and loss statement and balance sheet, and noted which figures the bank was most likely to examine.

The Outcome

She reported feeling far more confident during the meeting and was able to follow the discussion without needing her accountant to explain each point afterwards. She has since attended the four-week course to build on that foundation.

"I actually understood what was on the table. That was new for me."

A Partnership Director Getting Across the Numbers

Complete Programme — Professional Services, Shah Alam

The Situation

A director in a three-partner consultancy found that quarterly financial reviews were dominated by one partner who had an accounting background. The other two partners could not meaningfully contribute to discussions about the firm's financial position.

What He Did

He enrolled in the Complete Programme and encouraged one other partner to join the same cohort. Working through the programme together, they spent additional time on the management accounts format used by their firm's accountant.

The Outcome

Both partners reported that quarterly reviews were more balanced discussions afterwards. They could identify trends, ask about specific line items, and challenge assumptions with a clearer basis. The three-month Q&A period helped when questions arose in context.

"I stopped nodding along and started actually following the conversation."
