Built Around the Belief That Numbers Should Make Sense
Coinweft was established to give people a clear, calm path to understanding financial statements — without the jargon, without the pressure.
Back to HomeHow Coinweft Came to Be
Coinweft began in Kuala Lumpur when a small group of educators and business consultants noticed the same thing: many capable, intelligent business owners could not read their own financial statements with any real confidence. Not because they lacked ability, but because nobody had ever shown them how.
Most formal accounting education assumes a background in finance, or moves too quickly through the basics. Coinweft took a different approach — starting from the structure of each statement, explaining every line in plain language, and allowing learners to build their understanding steadily before moving on.
The name reflects that idea. A weft is what holds a weave together. Coinweft holds the numbers together into a readable whole.
What We Are Here to Do
Coinweft exists to help people read financial statements with enough understanding to ask sensible questions, hold useful conversations with their accountants, and make more informed decisions about their businesses and general affairs.
We are not a regulated advisory firm. We do not provide investment or financial advice. What we do is education — structured, honest, and practical.
"A financial statement is a story. Once you can read it, you are no longer dependent on someone else to tell you what happened."

Priya develops the workbooks, sample statement libraries and margin-note annotation guides that accompany all Coinweft programmes.
How We Approach Education
Clear Scope
Every programme states precisely what it covers and what it does not. Participants are never left uncertain about the boundaries of the education they receive.
Personal Data Protection
Participant information is handled in accordance with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. We do not use personal data for purposes beyond course delivery and communication.
Practitioner-Designed Content
All materials are developed by people with hands-on experience in financial reporting and business education — not assembled from generic templates.
Participant Feedback Loops
Programmes are reviewed after each cohort. Participant feedback directly informs improvements to content, pacing and example selection.
Accurate, Current Examples
Statement samples and worked examples are drawn from formats relevant to Malaysian business practice, and reviewed regularly to remain current.
Respectful Learning Environment
No question is dismissed as too basic. Sessions are designed so that participants at different starting points can all engage and progress comfortably.
Education That Respects Your Time and Intelligence
Financial statements — the balance sheet, the income statement and the cash flow statement — are the primary documents through which a business reports its financial position to its owners, lenders and directors. For many small business owners in Malaysia, these documents arrive quarterly or annually from their accountants, are briefly reviewed, and then filed without a full understanding of what they show.
This is not a personal failing. It reflects the way these documents are typically presented: structured according to accounting conventions that assume background knowledge most people outside the profession simply do not have. Coinweft works to close that gap through careful, patient instruction.
Each Coinweft programme is built around a set of annotated statement examples — real-format documents with plain-language margin notes explaining what each section represents, how figures in one statement relate to figures in another, and what questions a careful reader might ask. The instruction moves deliberately, with time allowed for participants to work through examples before new material is introduced.
Coinweft does not claim to turn participants into accountants. The aim is more specific and, for most people, more immediately useful: to reach a level of literacy where a financial statement is a readable document rather than an opaque one. That level of understanding changes how business owners engage with their professional advisers, how they approach financial decisions, and how they think about the long-term picture of their operations.
Working from our office at Menara Prestige in Kuala Lumpur, we serve participants from across the Klang Valley and beyond. Courses are conducted in English and are suitable for adults at any stage of their business or personal learning journey.
